Liggy is really a 51 year old man named Gale Lybbert. He has been married for over a quarter century to his beautiful wife, Brenda.
Gale has always loved woodworking and especially remembers making his first bookcase from plans in a cubscout handbook when he was in the second grade. Gale has always liked figure drawing and cartooning. The idea to combine his drawing hobby with his woodworking hobby happened just after he had toured a little woodworking school in Canada. He wanted to write them a thank you note for their very friendly hospitality. Gale wanted to personalize the note further by including a self -drawn cartoon satirizing the whole encounter. Because Gale was reading creativity books at the time (which is one of the reasons he even thought to write a thank you note) Gale realized just the very process of thinking up a woodworking-related cartoon was very fun for him and he knew he wasn't going to stop until he had thought up well over a hundred cartoons about woodworking. From that beginning, came woodlaughs. Gale had just built his first ever house complete with custom designed, built, and installed cabinets using the european 32 mm system (of pure insanity) when the big recession hit and kind of put the kybosh on his dreams of becoming a famous homebuilder. Because of hard times Gale was forced to sell all his cabinet-grade machinery and lick his wounds by doing the only woodworking he could, which was all in his head, or imagination. So what woodlaughs really is, is a man's way of turning lemons into lemonade. Gale hopes to still attend the woodworking school he originally wrote to, but might have to wait for retirement to come first. |
